Study Help Practice Projects

1. Take on the persona of one of the play's characters. Demonstrate your understanding of the text by writing a letter of introduction (from a paragraph to several pages) from the perspective of your character. What motivates you? What do you value? What can't you stand? What questions would you ask the other characters if given the chance?

2. Compare the text of Taming of the Shrew to a classic production (such as the Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton version) or a modern adaptation (Ten Things I Hate About You). How do these productions stack up against the original? What parts do they represent faithfully and what sentiments do they change or eliminate entirely?

3. Using a search engine, do a search for Web sites related to The Taming of the Shrew. Assemble a list of sites, critically annotating each one with a few sentences (not just summarizing its content, but really considering the credibility of each site). Pool your findings with some of your peer's to create a thorough list of resources available.
